ABOUT THE PUBLICATION

Publication Overview

The 2024 edition of The Business Year celebrates a decade of documenting Oman’s socioeconomic transformation, emphasising digitalisation and environmental sustainability. Produced with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, it features over 100 interviews with leaders highlighting Oman’s ambitions to become the world’s hydrogen capital and its strategic focus on ICT. Key figures discuss the nation’s efforts to foster a diversified, future-proof economy, supported by rising foreign direct investment and a robust non-oil sector. Oman’s political stability and business-friendly policies, along with its unique cultural authenticity, position it as a leading investment and tourism destination.

The Oman Hydrogen Centre plays a pivotal role in this transition by researching and developing hydrogen technologies aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040. Its work on establishing dedicated land allocation for hydrogen production positions Oman as a frontrunner in the MENA region. Sausan Al Riyami, Director of the Centre, explains, “The creation of a dedicated body for hydrogen land allocation, separate from existing government or private sectors, is a noteworthy lesson.
